Thread: Import SAS data files (in the format “filename.sas7bdat”

Default Import SAS data files (in the format “filename.sas7bdat”

Is there a way to import SAS data files (in the format “filename.sas7bdat”) into Lavastorm?

The SAS file format is not a delimited file type.

(We are using Lavastorm v4.6.1.2 Build 489 with LAL 2.24.0.0.10)

    Thanks

    Andy

I just skimmed this answer to a similar question at stackoverflow, http://stackoverflow.com/questions/2...-a-sas-dataset

Evidently there is a way to read the file using ODBC. So you could, at least in a windows environment, read the file using the ODBC feature of the DB Query node after setting it up in the way it is described on that page. I wonder if this ODBC driver is available in Linux.

    Hi Andy,

As an update to your question - recent versions of the Lavastorm Analytic Library (LAL) include an Experimental node that reads .sas7bdat files using the Power R node and the relevant CRAN package. However, to use the Power R node your installation would need to be provisioned with the Power R Node Pack license. The latest version of LAL can be obtained from here:

    http://na3.salesforce.com/_ui/selfse...0150000000pH2G

To Enable Experimental nodes within the BRE client select “Tools” then “Preferences”. On the General Tab select the “Advanced…” button and check the “Use Experimental Nodes” option. The Experimental nodes should now appear in their relevant node categories.

    Kind regards,
    Adrian

For customers who are using the Open Source R node rather than the embedded Power R node, here is a version of the SAS Reader node that leverages the R Node.

The R Node installer can be obtained from the Lavastorm LAL Installers page here: http://na3.salesforce.com/_ui/selfse...0150000000pH2G

Please see the R Node installer Release notes (also available at the above location) for details of how to set up and run the R node.
Please ensure you obtain the correct version of the R Node installer that aligns with the version of Lavastorm you are using. The 64-bit/32bit architecture must also match.
Rserve must be running on the R server and accessible from the Lavastorm application for this node to operate.

Note: The R node and LAL installers are now available on the Lavastorm website (instead of the previous locations in Salesforce which are no longer valid).

    http://www.lavastorm.com/product-downloads/

Click on the appropriate "Additional Node Pack" button that corresponds to the version of the product you are using.
