Thread: using error logs to report on failures

Default using error logs to report on failures

    Hi there,

I keep being ask how I can report on whether a lavastorm graph fails overnight or not. the only way I can think of doing something like this would be to reference the associated errorlog file for that graph that fails and grab the text sting that says "completed with errors" or "failed".
It would be nice to write a graph to be able to do this but I'm not sure how to go about it at the temp folders that get created for each graph run change names.

has anyone written graphs to this at all? are there any examples out there? is there an easier way to work out if a graph has failed to complete correctly to notify the relevant user?

    thanks for the help,

    regards

    Douglas

Are you using shell scripting or are you using the Logistics Manager?
I've got solutions for both environments, but wnat to make sure I'm addressing your concern.
